No matter how I tried, I kept coming back to our faithful four-legged companions, a fixture in our memories and photos when I look back on hikes, time at the cabin, holidays and just daily life in general. My cats and dogs are integral to my memories of growing up, just as they are now to my sons as they grow into adulthood.

That looks like the woods in which I liked to walk as a child. That picture really brings me back.

Isn’t it amazing how different images can evoke those memories?

Funny, I’m sure I commented before the “Nostalgia” challenge came out, but I really was feeling nostalgic about that photo.

Agreed. I wouldn’t be half the human I am had I never loved the animals in my life.

Perfect photo for the challenge, Kat. Funny but I can pretty much describe my life by the critters that shared my home(s). There was my fish period, cats periods, fish and cats period (not good) dogs and cats period, and now parrot and dog period. I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🙂

We had fish for awhile, too, but with limited hours in the day, over time just “downsized” to the cats and dogs, which are plenty! A parrot, though, that would add some interest! A co-worker of mine has one that is quite the character.

Beautiful pictures Kat! I love dogs and we always had either a lab or a golden growing up. I desperately want to get one but it has been hard with the travel we do. I’m hoping soon we can as I agree a dog is mans best friend! 🙂

They do make life a little less flexible at times, but worth the trade off!
