Descending to the dungeon of San Juan’s Castillo San Cristóbal definitely had an eerie feel to it. The feeling was only compounded when we stopped to examine the sketches on the dungeon walls, made by a prisoner long ago.

I do hope we make our way back for a more extended visit to Puerto Rico — so much fascinating history in those forts, and some beautiful landscapes.
