You will have to use your imagination to create a street life scene while exploring the ruins of the Roman port of Ostia, which was abandoned after the fall of Rome.

It’s fantastic, isn’t it? We close our eyes and see life swirling around us, as if we’re in the thick of it … won’t be long before they’ll be peopling ancient cities with moving 3D images, don’t you think?

I love how you didn’t use the ordinary extremely busy street. I like your interpretation of it 🙂

Ostia Antica was such a quiet alternative to what we had heard about Pompeii — you really had the opportunity to sit and try and imagine what life was like surrounded by the peaceful ruins. Thank you!

I love the idea of imagining the streets full of life! I always try to “see” what went on in old ruins/buildings/streets. Very nice picture!

Me too! It is so much easier to do without the clamoring of other tourists — Ostia Antica was a perfect spot for reflection of this type.

When I got to places like this, I can’t help but pause and envision what it must have been like to be here in its heyday. This photo does that for me, too. 🙂

Thank you, John — I feel the same. By arriving relatively early in the day, we were fortunate to have many areas of the ruins to ourselves to sit and ponder.
