The seasons of descent are upon us … tree branches almost bare after recent winds forced the descent of the last of the multi-colored leaves, while the hint of winter is in the air, with snow flurries descending upon us even before trick-or-treaters graced our doorsteps. I am not quite ready to let go of my favorite season, but I do enjoy the unique beauty that each season brings. Walking the grassy trails with the dogs recently, I noticed this single maple leaf, an isolated beauty nestled among parched aspen leaves past their golden prime.

I can so relate to your post, Kat. Most all of the trees are bare except our Japanese maple. I welcome its bright color against the gray sky that we have been having lately.

Well, we have abruptly shifted into the next season — snow falling from the sky as I type!

Great response to the challenge, Kat, from the leaves falling to our sliding into Winter’s cold. “Descent” is right.

Lovely capture Kat–good eye. I see were were on the same train of thought about the change of seasons. I too cling stubbornly to the warmth as winter inevitably arrives. Of course, it DOES make us appreciate the summer and fall, doesn’t it 😊

The transition of seasons with the sun setting an hour earlier now makes me want to crawl into a hot bath with a good book and never leave!
