Welcome to Travel. Garden. Eat. ~

Between juggling work, family, and a house full of always-shedding four-legged friends, life sometimes gets so busy that we forget to stop and smell the roses.  The Travel.Garden.Eat blog is a reminder to slow down and enjoy the things that make good memories and replenish the soul!

Just as I have enjoyed so many bloggers’ helpful travel tips, gardening inspiration and epicurean delights over the years, I hope to share with you some inspiration of my own. Traveling, gardening and nature, and food are common themes, often intertwined, but just as the good things in life are not so limited, neither are the subjects of this blog!

I hope you enjoy it.

Ciao! ~ Kat B.

  1. I just discovered your blog and it looks wonderful. From what I gather, we are fellow Minnesotans. 🙂 I live in the Twin Cities but love the North Shore. Keep up the good work!

    • Thanks for stopping by! I am dreadfully delinquent with regular posting this spring as my high school senior approaches graduation next week. Life is a blur, but life is good. Your blog looks like a fun, eclectic mix and I look forward to perusing it more as schedules relax more over the next couple of months. Cheers to another hardy Minnesotan finally starting to enjoy signs of spring/summer! The ice finally blew of Lake Superior this morning ….

  2. Hi Kat, I came across your blog while searching for items on the Lake Superior Hiking Trail. Imagine my surprise when I found out that we have already met through our respective jobs. Great writing, wonderful photos!

  3. Yes you are very true, travel should be a necessary part of life. Question is how to document it? Write book? or something else? I have created a new way to record tour in video presentations with Satellite Views, audio video, to see how? Welcome to my blog, get some video downloads on travel and tour:

  6. I loved your post on your sled-dog adventure. Sadly, my days of running behind, beside or even in front of a sled are past. Wouldn’t mind riding in one though.

  9. With the work/family/pets/etc juggling act going on, I see I’m the poster child for your target audience! I’ll definitely take inspiration for the garden and kitchen (the traveling, I think, will have to wait…) – so I look forward to keeping up with your adventures here, Kat.

    • My gardens are waiting after this pathetic summer! So you can fill that void for me! Looking forward to commiserating through future blog posts. Thanks for commenting ~ Kat

  10. I’m with you in traveling and eating. Not much of a gardener though. But with your blog, I am hoping to find inspiration. 🙂

    • Sara, I am flattered by your nomination! As I note in my “awards” page, I found the process so time-consuming (when the blog already is the perfect procrastination tool that detracts from mundane things that need to get done around the house!) but I do like to pay these things forward with a mention in a future relevant post, and will continue to do so. I really appreciate the recognition! ~ Kat

      • I know what you mean, Kat. I received the first nomination some time ago and still hadn’t written my Acceptance Speech, when I received another one. Oops… OK, fine. Time to do some ‘blog housekeeping’ 😉
I think these Awards are a great way to find other blogs you may have never stumbled upon otherwise. Following them all does become time consuming, so curbing your blog feed addiction is crucial, I guess. Nonetheless, if it wasn’t for someone else citing you or linking to your blog, I would have never find it. And as a Tuscan, I just had to follow your updates 😉
Anyway… take your time, there’s no hurry! 😀

      • I do enjoy browsing the award posts exactly for the reasons you stated — they have led me to some interesting posts, blogs I browse, blogs I follow. And, as you noted, without some of those recognitions by other bloggers some of us would not have found each other in this busy, diverse blogosphere! It’s a rainy Saturday here, with a household and office task list a mile long . . . a good day to share some of my favorite blog finds with others! 🙂 Thank you, again Sara, I do appreciate it! ~ Kath

  11. thanks for your like on my blog, and for bringing me here. I love the idea of slowing down and enjoying the things that make good memories and nourish the soul. I try to live each day in a state of mindfulness, and to be aware of all the blessings surrounding me at all times, at each moment. That’s what I love about taking photos as well…it keeps me mindful and then lets me live those wonderful moments at later dates. I look forward to exploring further here.
