“Well, here at last, dear friends, on the shores of the Sea comes the end of our fellowship in Middle-earth. Go in peace! I will not say: do not weep; for not all tears are an evil.”
~ J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King
Sadly, we said our final goodbyes to dear old Kruger today. Thank you for all your kind words and thoughts.
“Don’t be dismayed at goodbyes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends.” ~ Richard Bach

Oh, Kat. I’m sorry. These beings we bring into our home – or who let us live in theirs – and who don’t necessarily speak all of our language have a way of stealing our hearts. I’m happy you gave him a loving home for the time you did.

Thanks, Sid — he brought a lot of joy during the short time he was with us. And short or long, yes, they always take part of our hearts with them when they go.

I’ve been away from blogs for a while, Kat. I’m sorry to read Kruger has already passed. I hope there is a way for him to meet our Smokey and Joe; they would all have fun together.

All of the joy, friendship, and quickness to love that we get from our furry and prickly (someone I know just lost their hedgehog) friends makes the goodbye bearable. I’m so sorry for your loss, but have to think that Kruger was one lucky pup to wind up in your care. Hugs ~~Michele (a fellow northern Minnesotan living in Ismaning, Germany)

Always good to hear from another northern Minnesotan! Kruger may have been lucky, but so were we — the joy while they are here makes it all worthwhile.
